Update to the Production Timeline

Hey Compo Crew,

There is no easy way to say this. But, unfortunately, we’ve received bad news from our supply chain in China.

  • China has been hit again with Covid. The Omicron variant has spread from Hong Kong to Guangdong, causing shutdowns and supply chain delays. China has a zero-Covid strategy that continues to cause supply chain disruptions.

  • Unfortunately, the shutdowns have impacted the factory where Cuddy’s hinges are made.

  • Until now, we’ve been lucky. It seems so rubbish after two years in a global pandemic to blame Covid, especially when many parts of the world are opening up again.

  • But it’s Covid, and there’s nothing we can do about it.

  • Just as Cuddy is a collection of parts that can’t function unless they are there working together, much is the same with a supply chain.

So what does our timeline look like now?

  • Our partners in China have estimated that they can have the hinges ready to ship by mid-late April.

  • This would put them stateside by the end of May/ early June.

  • Richard has spoken to suppliers of other internal components to confirm they’re on track, and the good news is everything else is expected to be ready.

  • Our plastic molds will be finalized and shipped Stateside soon. We had a few changes to perfect the molds from the shiny examples that we showed you. This is normal and didn’t affect the timeline. We’ll go through the improvements in a separate post.

  • Right now, we’re working with our US manufacturers and our hinge supplier to see if there is any way we can bring forward the date we begin shipping Cuddy.

For now, though, we are genuinely sorry. We know that many of you are waiting patiently for your toilet but that it’s hard - it’s not like waiting for a new backpack or a set of headphones.

For many of you, Cuddy will be your primary toilet. For others, you need him for your dream road trip that you already have planned. A toilet really is an essential thing.

We acknowledge the inconvenience of this delay. We are searching for any possible solution that will get you all your toilets as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Richard and Erica
